Moonraker Original Vintage Movie Poster
Title Year Nominal size Condition Price
Moonraker 1979 Italian locandina 13"X27" Fine/Near Mint £60
Notes: Moonraker was the 11th film in the series and the fourth starring Roger Moore, "Moonraker" works very well for a number of reasons. As Ian Fleming's original novel (written in 1955) had become too dated to translate to the screen, the producers decided to capitalise on the sci-fi craze started by Star Wars, and so created a spectacular space-age adventure where James Bond himself journeys into outer space. Oscar nominated for effects and with a great cast, it has more comedy moments than any other of the Bond films but carried them off well. From the first release in Italy, folded with light wear only.

Propaganda - Keep Calm and Carry On Original Vintage Movie Poster
Title Year Nominal size Condition Price
Propaganda - Keep Calm and Carry On 1939 UK DC - 20" x 30" Near Mint £7,995
Notes: This is a very rare and important piece of British history, printed in 1939 when the threat of invasion by the all conquering Nazis was a very real possibility. This design was printed in secret and intended for distribution only if the Germans landed on British soil. Thankfully this never happened and, like all paper in the 1940's, stocks were taken from storage, pulped and recycled in the austerity years after the war. It was almost completely forgotten until one was rediscovered in 2000 by the owner of a bookshop, whereupon the design became the centre of a worldwide marketing phenomenon, appearing on everything from mugs to T-shirts. There were believed to be only two survivors until a stash of fifteen appeared on the BBC Antiques Roadshow in 2012 and six more appeared from another significant estate find of a hoard of wartime posters in 2014. They remain incredibly rare with under forty known examples in the world. Undoubtedly the most poignant of any wartime poster in British history, it has recently also become one of the most iconic motivational themes of all time and is consequently increasingly sought after. Rolled in superb condition.

A Nous Deux (artwork rough) Original Vintage Movie Poster
Title Year Nominal size Condition Price
A Nous Deux (artwork rough) 1979 Original Artwork 16" x 22" Fine £125
Notes: Unique original artwork by Michael Bennallack Hart, signed by the artist. This was an original rough drawn early in the creative design process for this 1979 french film by Claude Lelouch, starring Catherine Deneuve. Like most rough designs, it never made it into production but it remains a fascinating piece of pre-production cinema history. Of particular note is the fact that the all titles, including the small print, were in French suggesting that this was potentially intended for use in France.

Affairs of Susan Original Vintage Movie Poster
Title Year Nominal size Condition Price
Affairs of Susan 1945 French affiche - 24"x 32" Fair £45
Notes: Heavily cinema used but the Boris Grinsson artwork is still stunning. This poster shows it's age but the colours are still bright and the image is beautiful. The old fashioned stone litho print (often mistaken for screen printing) is far more vivid than modern offset litho printing and the overall effect is wonderful. This is one for lovers of patina and prefer a lived in look. The film was an oscar nominated romantic comedy starring Joan Fontaine as the multi-faceted Susan. This is from the 1947 first release in France of this 1945 film. Folded with wear from cinema use, repairs to rear and paper loss around the edges and folds.

Title Year Nominal size Condition Price
All Quiet on the Western Front 1930 UK DC - 20" x 30" Very Good/Fine £995
Notes: British material on this tremendously important First World War film is notoriously difficult to find - this is the only example of a 1930 first release poster that I have ever heard of. Moreover, the text actually provides us with the provenance. It was used at the Empire Cinema in Faversham for a week from October 12th 1930. Quite possibly a unique opportunity. Folded with some overall wrinkling but no staining and no damage.
