Empire Strikes Back (Scandecor) Original Vintage Movie Poster
Title Year Nominal size Condition Price
Empire Strikes Back (Scandecor) 1980 27" x 39" Fine £50
Notes: Although not an official film studio poster, this poster is very collectible. The poster manufacturer, Scandecor, were the official licensee for aftermarket Star Wars posters sold to the general public. This particular poster features the so called "Gone with the Wind" style Roger Kastel artwork used in the first US posters, before being withdrawn for contractual reasons and replaced with the more common Darth Vader style image. Rolled with handling wear and edge creases that do not detract from the presentation.

Many, including this one, were cropped slightly crooked - a sign the printers were rushing to meet the demand. This poster is linen backed.

Fast Ones Original Vintage Movie Poster
Title Year Nominal size Condition Price
Fast Ones 1959 US 1 sht - 27"x41" Very Good/Fine on linen £525
Notes: Rare Juvenile Delinquent drama from Canada that pits a bike gang against rich kids who try to frame them for their own crimes. Way ahead of its time, the villains are the rich kids not the bikers (unheard of in films of this type in 1959), the script was intelligent and the cinematography well above average. Originally released as 'Ivy League Killers', it didn't get a US release until the 1960's when it was retitled The Fast Ones. Even then it was very much a low budget affair - they couldn't even find the funds for a proper poster print run. The few posters that were made were actually recycled Dragstrip Riot posters (a 1958 AIP release) with the original credits overprinted with the new names. All this makes this particular poster a rare survivor for a much under-recognised film. It has been linenbacked with sympathetic restoration to borders and folds (but traces of the original credits can still be seen under the new ink giving a clue to its former identity).

Fistful of Dollars Original Vintage Movie Poster
Title Year Nominal size Condition Price
Fistful of Dollars 1964 Argentina 1 sht - 29"X43" Very Good £55
Notes: The first of Sergio Leone's trilogy, A fistful of Dollars, was notable for several reasons. It was the first really successful Spaghetti western. It was a masterly retelling of Kurosawa's Yojimbo. And despite being directed by Sergio Leone, the credits identified a fictional Bob Robertson as director - the (misguided) studio wanted to give the impression that it was a proper American western not an Italian one. This poster is from an early 70's re-release in Argentina, folded as originally issued to cinemas, with minor archival tape repairs to the back that do not affect presentation.
