This was Coppola's directorial debut. For the American release, the Russian characters were given American names (to disguise the fact that it was a Russian movie at the height of the cold war), and the American posters credit "Edd Perry" and "Arla Powell" rather than Ivan Pereverzev and Aleksandr Shvorin. Linen backed with a repair to an edge chip on the left hand side.

Night to Remember Original Vintage Movie Poster
Title Year Nominal size Condition Price
Night to Remember 1958 UK quad - 40"x30" Fine on linen £1,650
Notes: This is the film that real afficionados of the Titanic sinking respect. Roy Baker's film, starring Kenneth More, was far more historically accurate than Cameron's more recent blockbuster and was an appropriately British production as well. This is the very rare country of origin style A poster from the films first UK release in 1958. This design is far rarer than the style B and has the iconic image of the ship sinking in the background. Of additional interest on this particular copy are the two small signatures of actual Titanic survivors discreetly written in the top right corner. Eva Hart, aged 7 when Titanic sank, from Essex was on lifeboat 14 and Millvina Dean, aged just two months, from Hampshire was on lifeboat 10. Both survived with their respective mothers and siblings but lost their fathers. A poignant reminder that this was a real story. Linen backed in excellent condition with airbrushing to borders.
